The story was explained as it was around 1862 when William decided to go off and fight in the war on the side of the Confederates.
He was in love with a beautiful girl who was desperately in love with him and wanted to have his baby.
But, William refused, fearing he might never return, leaving the widow and their child fatherless.
However, he survived the war but suffered a terrible injury as a cannonball hit him in the testicles.
