Does Jamie Lissow Have Blue Eyes?

Since his popularity, his followers have been curious about his life, particularly his rare blue eyes.

Yeah, you read it right; the actor Jammie Lissow does have blue Eyes. While brown eyes are the most common eye color found in human beings, only 8% of the total population have blue eyes.

Well, to be fair, Jammie Lissow does and doesn’t have blue eyes. For our vision, it appears as blue, but it is not. Find out why.

Why Does Jammie Lissow Have Blue Eyes?

Blue eyes have quite the history. According to researchers at the University of Copenhagen, around 6 to 10,000 years ago, the baby was born with blue eyes due to a harmless genetic mutation that affected our chromosome, which resulted in a switch turning off the ability to produce brown eyes.

If you have blue eyes, you might be a distant relative of that ancestor human. As far as what we know now, eye color depends on the quantity of a pigment called melanin that lives in the iris. The switch limits the amount of melanin in our iris that dilutes brown to a shade of blue.

Technically, melanin contains a 100% brown color by its nature. While brown eyes have the highest melanin, supposed blue has the lowest brown melanin. To conclude, we can’t say blue eyes are blue but instead the least form of brown eyes.

Is It A Condition Or Natural To Have Blue Eyes?

While blue eyes are more sensitive, and because of the less melanin present, it has more of a risk for certain damage. Melanin in the iris helps protect the back of our eye, i.e. retina, from UV rays and high-energy light from the sun.

However, having blue eyes is a natural phenomenon, not a condition. It is caused by a genetic switch.
