Who Is Michael Norman’s Mother?

Michael Norman was born to his mother, Nobue Saito, a woman of Japanese heritage.

Like her son, Nobue was also a Japanese sprinter. During her time in Japan, she broke numerous junior high school sprint records and was a celebrity in her own right.

It makes full sense that her son is a world champion and one of the fastest young athletes of all time. In fact, Micahel’s parents first met while competing for Los Angeles Valley College’s track team.

He returned to his mother’s country during the 2020 Olympics and was rumored to have studied a bit of Japanese while understanding his Asian heritage.

Whether he successfully learned the language or not is unknown, but at the 2020 Olympic Games, Norman and his colleagues won gold and earned the first Olympic medal of his career.

Michael Norman Family & Ethnicity

In San Diego, California, Norman was born to a Japanese mother and an African-American father, which explains that he is of mixed ethnicity.

Besides his mother and him, other family members have a track record. His father, Michael Norman Sr., ran track, and his older sister, Michelle, competed for the University of Utah before moving on to the University of California, Irvine.

At CNATTU North Island, his father was an aircraft maintenance and administration management training instructor. He has always backed him up, pushed him to keep going, and assisted him in achieving his dreams.

Norman won his first major individual senior championship and became the first American 400m global winner since LaShawn Merritt in 2013.

His father is immensely proud of him, and it is clear that the Norman family will always remember the moment when their son won the gold medal at the podium.

Michael Norman’s Net Worth

One of the best sprinters, Michael Norman’s net worth is estimated to be $1-$5 million, according to sportskeeda.

In 2018, he was signed to Nike, earning a hefty amount from the endorsement deals. Similarly, as an Olympics gold medal winner, he was handed $37,500, in addition to a bonus.

Norman has long been regarded as the next great 400-meter runner in the US, but he has consistently disappointed when under stress on the biggest stages.

He dreamed of achieving gold in the 400-meter category, and since it had been so long, he won. He needed a gold medal to support his as-yet-unfulfilled status as one of his generation’s best quarter-milers.

Hence, he came through when it required the most as he finally can identify himself as a world champion. In July 2022, at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, Norman won the men’s 400-meter gold in a race that would define his athletic career.
