Father of three kids, Martin Short, is a comedian, actor, singer, and writer of Canadian and American descent.

For the 1984–85 season, Martin appeared on Saturday Night Live. With his multiple characters, he helped to resurrect the show for season 10.

“His debut on SNL served to resurrect the show’s fan base, which had dwindled since Eddie Murphy’s departure, and would go on to establish his successful career in cinema and television.”

Martin’s Saturday Night Live personas contained many holdovers from his SCTV days, most notably his Ed Grimley character.

He was portrayed on Saturday Night Live as a geeky everyman who finds himself in weird situations rather than a miscast terrible actor in multiple films and TV show parodies.
