Mané was fourth in the 2019 Ballon d’Or voting, while he was fifth in the Best FIFA Men’s Player voting in 2019 and fourth in 2020.

Mané began his professional career at the age of 19 with Ligue 2 club Metz but left after only one season to join the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg in 2012 for a cost of €4 million, winning the league and cup domestic double in 2013–14. Mané moved to Southampton in England for a club-record cost of £11.8 million later that summer.

Sadio Mané was raised in the little community of Bambali, deep in the heart of Senegal’s south. Mané had to live with his uncle since his poor parents had more children than they could care for.

His desire to become a professional player was sparked after he saw the Senegal National Team compete in the World Cup and advance to the quarter-finals, even defeating world champions France in the group stage despite being a first-time participant. As a result, he began to take football very seriously.
