Kathleen Foley, aka Katy Doyle, was convicted and given life imprisonment for the murder of Joe Doyle. The court documents claimed that her husband became the victim of a love triangle.

Katy began an affair with a coworker while working as a mental assistant at Allentown State Hospital, where Joe Foley worked as a recreational therapist. She wanted to be with her lover, George Fleming, who worked in housekeeping and wanted her out of marriage.

And, one day, Joe was shot with his gun. It was a handgun he bought for his wife’s safety when he was in Ireland, attending union meetings, or participating in other activities. However, he never knew the wife he had cared for and loved would take his life.

She kept the romance going after her husband died, attempting to persuade authorities that an unidentified man had broken into their Moravia Street house and killed her husband. At the same time, she was asleep in another room.

She enjoyed 15 months of freedom after killing her husband. She had cashed in a $1,177 savings bond to buy a Chrysler Concord for George, who worked as a janitor at the hospital.

The police were quietly developing a case against the widow, looking forward to utilizing her husband’s $212,000 life insurance benefit to fund further escapade with her Romeo.
