Matt and Amani from How To Get Rich are leading a joint life with their kids. Matt is a stay-at-home dad and Amani is an account executive.

The newest Netflix documentary series, How To Get Rich, is much like a Marie Kondo-style advice series for your savings, checking, retirement, and investment accounts.

And the host is nonother than financial expert Ramit Sethi, who counsels and guides individuals on their relationships with money and how they can end up on the path of wealth.

The latest show is the financial equivalent of What Not to Wear. But instead of pointing out outfits that are not a good look, Ramit tells his clients how they are wasting their money.

The series follows people from different financial backgrounds -from working-class to six-figure earners.

It promises to give some advice one may find useful and applicable and also uncover other individuals’ financial information, allowing viewers to judge them for all their mistakes.

The eight-episode series premiered on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, on Netflix.

Where Are Matt and Amani Now?

Matt and Amani How To Get Rich are leading a joint life towards their befoul rich life in the coming days. The husband and wife managed to improve their condition in the show.

In the documentary series, viewers see the pair struggling with managing their finance and relationship.

People were surprised to see them together despite so many tensions going on between them.

Together the couple spends around $27,000 each month. They live on one income as Matt left his job as a traveling electrical engineer to take care of their two young daughters.

Surely, it is hard for a family of four to live on one income. However, after going deep into their earnings, the financial expert found that the pair actually bring in about $24,000 a month.

He said the pair contributed $24,000 to the checking account and spent $27,000. He added, “They spent more than they made. This is a huge red flag for me.”

Sethi spends six weeks with each client to help them turn their financial situation. He first studies their finances and spending habits and develops a blueprint and action plan for them to follow.

The couple’s overspending led them to depend on overdraft protection to cover their expenses. Such accounts cost fees and high interest.

Sethi gave them a Design Your Rich Life journal to work on together. The first step he wanted them to do was to start talking about the money and get positive about it. “This is a great opportunity,” he said.

Fans React To Amani and Matt

Viewers are quite displeased with Amani’s personality and behavior on How To Get Rich.

She is trending all over Twitter, Reddit, and TikTok videos. People are posting videos expressing their views and thoughts about her.

One Reddit user shared how she disliked the way Amani distrusted her hubby.

People are convinced that she is being super hard for no reason. A Twitter user said, “Matt needs to GET A JOB! They look so unhappy in this twisted relationship.”

Even though the two said their relationship improved over the course of working with Sethi and getting more transparent with each other about their finances, fans say they have a much bigger issue than just money.

“Amani and Matt need couple’s therapy besides financial advice,” a fan tweeted.

Following all this backlash, Amani took to her Instagram account and said how she has been processing the shock from the image she was given and the cyberbullying she has been receiving.

She expressed that she entered the show to showcase women’s empowerment and her struggles as an immigrant. She clarifies many instances from the show that were cut off.

She also mentions that she is heartbroken over the negative comments about her as it was not what really happened.

In her most recent post, she revealed how these activities have made her take anti-depression pills for the first time in her life.

Who Are Matt and Amani On How To Get Rich?

Matt and Amani Jlassi are married couple who appear in How To Get Rich to learn to use their income and achieve their richest lives.

Jlassi works as an account executive at a software company. Her husband is a stay-at-home dad for their two daughters.

Matt was a traveling electrical engineer before he decided to take care of her kids because the frequent travel wasn’t working for the family. They live on one income -Jlassi’s salary.

Jlassi is active on Instagram under the username @amani_lil_tunisia_. In a recent post, she shared about her upbringing, and how she grew up in a conservative country where women were oppressed.

She grew up around physical abuse where her dad would beat her mom for money and still expect her to clean, cook, and fend for the kids. When she immigrated to the US, she had no money or family.

Jlassi admitted she found the money she saved up the only way of surviving in a time of need so she is very protective of it as it also supports her kids and family.

Her grandmother was living with them to take care of their kids at the time of filming the Netflix series. Sadly, she passed away from cancer. Later, she hired a nanny for her daughters.

“So never at any point, he (Matt) was the only person caring for them,” she clarified. She further shared her husband has access to multiple credit cards in his name with over 20k monthly credit lines.

She explained he didn’t have access to her checking account but that was the account paying for the credit cards.

Jlassi joined the cast of How To Get Rich as she thought the experience would be pro-women empowerment, immigrants, and embracing string women but that didn’t happen.
