Mekia Cox had made cameos in a number of TV shows before “Undercovers,” including “CSI: NY,” “Half & Half,” and “One Tree Hill.” She also appeared in the 2011 romantic comedy-drama movie “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”

A big turning point in Cox’s career was her involvement in the This Is It concert series. She was picked as one of the 11 dance group members out of more than 500 applicants. She danced beside Michael Jackson during the rehearsing of “The Way You Make Me Feel” in the documentary “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” demonstrating her talent and commitment.

In the second and third seasons of “90210,” Cox made appearances in six episodes and one episode respectively. Sasha, a character she created, ended up being Dixon Wilson’s (Tristan Wilds’) contentious love interest.

Despite having a difference in age, they became friends through similar experiences, such as sharing a cell phone ringtone. Cox’s persona lied about being pregnant in order to keep Dixon from breaking up with her.

Cox demonstrated that her abilities went beyond acting when, in October 2009, she joined the This Is It dancers on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to grant the host her birthday wish.

Cox played Lizzy Gilliam, the female lead’s sister in the short-lived NBC spy thriller “Undercovers,” who was ignorant of her family’s involvement in CIA operations.
