Marta Haydee Rodriguez-Cruz was married to Jose Rodriguez-Cruz. The 28-year-old nurse’s aide had been residing in Arlington County, Virginia, at the time of the incident.

They were blessed with a boy, Hansel, who was their only child. Unfortunately, as the police learned after investigation, there was no love between the two of them, and this was the cause of Marta’s death.

What Happened To Haydee Rodriguez?

Marta and Jose had a complicated relationship before her abduction. Officers in Arlington County, Virginia, saw Jose take her along the street as she was tied and gagged in March 1989.

Jose’s car included duct tape and rope, which were discovered by police when he was taken into custody. Prior to the incident, she had even informed the police that she was worried for her safety at the moment.

In November 2020, Jose pleaded guilty to the murder of Marta after the prosecution presented a mostly circumstantial case based on Jose’s violent past.

In spite of this, he argued that it was an accident, saying that he had given her a painkiller for a headache that led to her passing away.
