Was Jackie Aka Laurie Metcalf Really Pregnant On Roseanne?

Fans instantly noticed that Laurie Metcalf seemed pregnant in real life when Jackie Harris, Laurie Metcalf’s character on Roseanne, announced she was pregnant during Season 6.

Early in 1993, when Laurie told the Roseanne producers that she was expecting her second child, son Will Theron Roth. Interestingly, they decided to include Laurie’s pregnancy into the storyline so that Laurie wouldn’t have to cover herself up with her baby belly in front of the camera.

Jackie, the younger sister of the show’s star Roseanne Conner, claimed she was expecting her first child in the sixth season after having a one-night stand with Fred. Fred was initially introduced as Dan Conner’s coworker and Roseanne’s husband.

There was no need for a fake baby bump for Jackie to reveal her expanding belly in many episodes during the season to help convince the audience that she was expecting. Jackie gave birth to a baby called Andy at the end of the season, and two months later, she married Andy’s father, Fred. Unfortunately, Jackie and Fred subsequently divorced, and the hardships she faced raising Andy alone remained a major Roseanne subplot until the show’s 1997 cancellation after nine seasons.
