Transfusion 2023 cast is headed by Sam Worthington and other members include Phoebe Tonkin, Matt Nable, and Edward Carmody. Sam is portraying Ryan Logan in the film.

The film was released on January 20, 2023, in Australia and is currently available for streaming on Stan.

According to the official synopsis on IMDb, the film follows a retired former special force operative who tries to keep his son from being taken away by navigating the criminal world.

Luke Buckmaster from Guardian mentioned the film has a mechanical plot as if it was written by Artificial Intelligence. The article adds the death scenes have no meaningful emotional attachment and are merely represented as the “end of the prologue.”

Furthermore, the film is broken into blocks, the first block represents Ryan’s former life as an operative. The second one covers all the bonding between the father and the son while the third block is actually where the major plot of the film happens.

Transfusion is written and directed by Matt Nable. The film is produced by 16 people including Samantha Allwinton, Christelle Conan, and Christelle Conan among others.

Sam Worthington plays the lead character Ryan in the film. Sam is a seasoned English-born Australian actor. He is best known for his appearance in Avatar, Terminator, Hacksaw Ridge, and Everest, among others.

The Titan star made his acting debut with the 2000 television series JAG and has since collected 64 acting credits on his IMDb profile. Ten of his acting credits are for his upcoming roles, including Avatar 3, 4, and 5, scheduled to release in 2024, 2026, and 2028 respectively.

The actor was born to his parents, Jeanne J and Ronald W. Worthington. The Call of Duty star is married to model  Lara Bingle Worthington, and the couple shares three children. They share sons Rocket Zot, Racer, and River together.

Phoebe Tonkin Plays Justine

Justine is the wife of the lead character Ryan. Justine is the mother of Ryan’s son Billy and is pregnant with his second child. The subplot of the family of three hanging out together after some emotional backstory is used to showcase the soft side of Ryan.

Phoebe Tonkin plays Justine in the film Transfusion. Tonkin is an Australian actress best known for appearances in The Vampire Diaries. She has appeared in other projects including, Tomorrow, When the War Began, H2O: Just Add Water, and The Originals.

The actress made her acting debut with the 2006 television series H2O: Just Add Water, where she portrayed Cleo Sertori for 78 episodes between 2006 and 2010. Since her debut, Tonkin has amassed 25 acting credits on her IMDb profile.

Edward Carmody Plays Billy Logan

Billy Logan is the son of Ryan Logan in Transfusion. Billy is a key character in the plot of the film as his carelessness and tendency to get into trouble forces his father Ryan to get involved with the underworld criminals. Billy is portrayed by Gilbert Bradman as an eight-year-old and later by Edwards when he grows up.

Edward Carmody is a fresh actor. In fact, Transfusion is the actor’s debut film according to his IMDb profile. His Instagram account under username @edwardfridaycarmody has just shy of 1k followers at the time of writing this article. However, the number of his followers is expected to rise rapidly as his debut film Transfusion is doing very well in Australia.

On the other hand, 8-year-old Billy’s actor Gilbert Bradman has a spec more experience when it comes to acting compared to Edward. Bradman made his debut in 2019 with the television series Alphabet Street. He has since amassed 4 acting credits on his IMDb profile.

Matt Nable Plays Johnny

Johnny is Ryan’s first contact with the underworld. Johnny is a former SAS colleague who comes with an offer of a simple but illegal gig for Ryan to earn a few extra bucks. I do not recall when was the last time the easy illegal job was actually easy in a movie.
