Tia had a rather tough childhood; she was raised by her stepmother since her real parents abandoned her when she was still small. However, she grew up to become fond of animals, and they became her closest friends. Little by little, her pet kingdom increased and growing tired of the everyday life, Tia left home when she was only 17, with her collection of pets which included a horse. Settling in Villalobos, California, Tia founded a rescue center for wounded, injured or abused animals, with a focus on wolves and dogs, since most of them were hunted by people and left injured in the wilds. Also, she has welcomed hybrids of wolves and dogs, so in no time her Villalobos Rescue Center opened its doors and was flooded with refugees.

Her shelter became the home for more and more – and various – animals and Tia couldn’t handle all the business by herself; with the help of her husband and several other employees or volunteers, former prisoners, who are now parolees, she was able to handle more and more work, and Tia became a sensation in no time, with several networks stopping by to offering her reality show deals. At first, Tia refused to accept any offers, however, the reality of needing money for her business struck home, and she accepted the offer from the Animal Planet, and the reality series “Pit Bulls and Parolees” was created. The series began airing in 2009, and it is now in its 10th season, which has significantly increased Tia’s net worth, and meant that she is able to continue with his primary work.

Regarding her personal life, Tia has been married to Aren Jackson since 2006; the couple met in the early 1980s, but soon after starting their relationship, Aren was incarcerated, and was released from prison only in 2006, when the couple married. Unfortunately, Aren was arrested again in 2007, and since then has been in jail, but the two have remained married and apparently in a genuine relationship, despite Aren being behind bars.
