Michael Owen Net Worth $68 Million

Football was a part of Owen’s family life, as his father was a former football player. The father saw potential in Michael and eventually introduced the then seven year-old to football. From that time Owen played football very often, and many started to notice his skills as he broke many goal-scoring records on his way through age-group teams. While being only 12 years old Michael was noticed by Liverpool. After some consideration, Michael became a part of Liverpool’s youth team. Owen’s success grew with every match that he played and he signed a professional contract with Liverpool at the age of 17 years, somewhat surprisingly for such a top club of the time. This of course made a huge impact on Michael Owen’s net worth. What is more, Michael was considered to be one of the best players of his generation, together with such footballers as David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Robbie Fowler. Playing for Liverpool not only gained Owen success and acclaim but also added to Michael’s net worth.

After Michael’s successful performance for Liverpool over eight years, making over 200 appearances and scoring at an average of a goal every two games, Real Madrid became interested in him, but Liverpool did not want to lose one of the best players of the team.

Despite this fact, Michael still became a part of Real Madrid in 2004. Michael had an opportunity to play with such stars as Raul, Luis Figo, Ronaldo, David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane. Owen’s start in this club was not very successful, as he spent a lot of time on the bench, but after some time Michael was back in the game, as his skills made him noticed, and wanted by many other clubs, and he signed for Newcastle United in 2005, and then for Manchester United in 2009, however, recurring injuries were starting to take there toll, and his appearances became fewer each season. A torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in the 2006 World Cup was really the start of his physical decline. He retired from playing in 2013, after a few games for Stoke City. Regardless, Michael Owen’s net worth grew consistently throughout his club career, augmented by 89 appearances for the full England team over a 10 year period.

In his personal life, Michael Owen married Louise Bonsall in 2004, and the couple has four children.  Michael and his family own more than one car, race horses and even a helicopter. What is more, now Michael appears on different kind of advertisements, endorsing watchmaker Tissot, and Jaguar cars, magazines and sometimes even appears in television shows. Undoubtedly, these also add to Owen’s net worth. Although Michael doesn’t play football anymore, he is still involved in different kind of activities related to this sport, such as commenting football games. As Owen is still very busy, it might be that Michael Owen’s net worth will grow in the future.
