Marvelous Marvin Hagler is a retired professional American Southpaw boxer who has an estimated net worth of $45 million. He accumulated his net worth as an Undisputed World Middleweight Champion from 1980 to 1987. Born Marvin Nathaniel Hagler on May 23, 1954 in Newark, New Jersey, he was raised by his mother in the Central Ward. After the Newark Riots of July 12-17, 1967, the family moved to Brockton, Massachusetts. He took boxing in 1969 after walking into a gym in the town owned by brothers Pat and Goody Petronelli who later became his trainers and managers. He became the AAU 165-pound champion after defeating Atlanta’s Terry Dobbs.

In his professional career, Hagler made twelve undisputed title defenses and holds the highest KO percentage of all middleweight champions at 78%. His reign as undisputed middleweight champion for six years and seven months is the second longest of the last century. He was behind Tony Zale although Zale was inactive for four years due to World War II. In 1982, he was annoyed that network announcers often did not call him by his nickname Marvelous when he already legally changed his name to Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

Marvin Hagler is an inductee of the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame. He was named Fighter of the Decade during the 1980s by Boxing Illustrated and twice named Fighter of the Year by Ring Magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America. The Ring named him as the fourth greatest middleweight of all time in 2001 and 2004. In 2002, The Ring named him as the 17th greatest fighter of the past 80 years.

The International Boxing Research Organization (IBRO) rates Hagler as the sixth greatest middleweight of all time. Boxrec rates him as the fifth best middleweight of all time. Many analysts and boxing writers consider him to have one of the best “chins” in boxing.
