An Alaskan native, Martin is of Tlingit and Koyukon-Athabascan ancestry, while he also has Irish descent. From an early age, Martin was brought-up in the traditions of the Alaskan Tribes, and nurtured all the customs of his mother’s and father’s tribes.

However, he didn’t want to spend his whole life in Alaska, and in 2007 moved to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of a career as an actor, but not before he had finished his education. During his time in Alaska, Martin was a part of the Native Wellness Institute as an ambassador, and also an ambassador for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Once settled in Los Angeles, Martin used his money made from working on an oil rig in Alaska to support his further education in acting, and the expenses of living in the big city, until he secured a part that would increase his net worth.

He made his debut appearance in 2012, as the host of the Native American arts and entertainment magazine show “The Hub”, and two years made his acting debut as Tintah in the short film “K’ina Kil: The Slaver’s Son”. Thanks to his heritage, Martin had a fantastic predisposition for roles as native Americans, such as his next role as Mohawk in the TV series “Salem”, also in 2014. In 2016, Martin portrayed Wolf, the lead character in the film “Lilin’s Brood”, and the same year was also cast in the remake of 1960 western “The Magnificent Seven”, directed by Antoine Fuqua, and starring Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke. The film grossed more than $100 million worldwide, which significantly increased Martin’s net worth.

He continued the momentum by appearing in the crime-drama mystery film “Wind River” (2017), with Kelsey Asbille, Jeremy Renner and Julia Jones as the stars of the film, while he also works on several motion pictures, including “The Chickasaw Rancher”, a biopic of Montford T. Johnson, whom Martin will portray, but the film doesn’t yet have a release date, then “Encounter”, scheduled for release late in 2017, and several others, which will certainly increase his net worth.

Regarding his personal life, Martin has been in a relationship with Kahara Hodges, a vocalist, who is of Navajo Native American descent.
