Justin was the second child in the history of Canada to be born of a prime minister in office. He comes from a predominantly political family, with relatives who had served in different positions of the government. His parents separated when he was five years old, and he came under the custody of his father. He enrolled at the Rockcliffe Park Public School under the French immersion program, afterwards spent a year at the Lycee Claudel d’Ottawa, and then attended the private College Jean-de-Brebeuf. Justin would go on and attend McGill University, graduating with a degree in literature. He subsequently attended the University of British Columbia to study education, and after graduating, he became a math teacher at West Point Grey Academy, and at the same time studied for his master’s degree in environmental geography at McGill University.
He appeared in a television miniseries entitled “The Great War”, and would use his status for various advocacies. These include fighting against a zinc mine that would poison Nahanni River, criticisms against stopping funding for a public avalanche warning system, and the Katimavik youth program.
After the death of his father, he became a lot more involved in politics, and started to support various candidates of the Liberal Party. He eventually campaigned against Mary Deros and Basilio Giordano to get a Liberal nomination, which he easily won. In 2008, he entered the parliament as part of the Official Opposition and would handle multiculturalism and youth affairs. Two years later he became the spokesman on youth, citizenship, and immigration. He supported the increase of relief efforts during the 2010 Haiti earthquake, before being re-elected in Papineau the following year. In 2012, he would take part in a charity boxing match for a cancer research event entitled Fight the Cure, against Conservative senator Patrick Brazeau, winning in the third round.
After the resignation of Liberal leader Dion, Trudeau became a potential successor. He did not campaign however and the position was given to Michael Ignatieff. During the 2012 race, he was hesitant at first but eventually launched his bid to become leader of the Liberal Party with no other obvious leader. He was criticized by competitors for his lack of contributions and positions in terms of policies but he still won with 80.1% of votes. Under his leadership, the Liberal party would achieve a decisive victory in the 2015 federal election, with the largest number of seats ever won by a single party in a Canadian election, and it would lead to him becoming the Prime Minister of Canada.
As Prime Minister, he is focused on lowering taxes for middle-income Canadians and raising those of higher earners. He has also started to promote transparency in government, and improve relations with indigenous people. Some of his other statements include the legalization of marijuana and reform of both the senate and the election process of ‘first-past-the-post’.
For his personal life, he married Sophie Gregoire in 2005 and they have three children. He has a tattoo on his left arm designed by Robert Davidson, and is from the Haida tribe.

| 1 | You know I'm not going to go around reciting Pi to the 19th decibel. |
| 2 | [Toronto Sun interview, February 2015] Budget will balance itself. |
| 3 | [to Queen Elizabeth II, to whom he had been introduced as a little boy by his Prime Minister father] I will say you were much taller than me the last time we met. |
| 4 | Fear is a dangerous thing. |
| 5 | [on the issue of marijuana] The current approach is not protecting our kids. And whatever you say about pot being less harmful than alcohol or tobacco, it's still not good for the developing brain. We want to keep our kids safe. Adults can make their own choices, fine. But protecting our children from marijuana use is why I think controlling it and regulating it is going to do a better job of that. |
| 6 | I think a lot of people have fallen into the poor habit of thinking about leadership as Stephen Harper's model, that the only person he takes advice from is the person he sees in the mirror every morning. And that's just not what I understand as being leadership. I think that's not right for a country as rich and diverse as Canada. And I certainly saw, from my father's own example, that he used to surround himself with the brightest people he could possibly find, experts in all kinds of different areas, and draw on their strength and expertise to build the big picture. |
| 7 | [to the question which nation's administration he most admires, 2013] You know, there's a level of admiration I actually have for China, because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to turn their economy around on a dime and say, 'We need to go green fastest..we need to start investing in solar' ..I mean there is a flexibility that I know Stephen Harper must dream about - of having a dictatorship that he can do everything that he wanted that I find interesting. |
| 8 | My father's values and vision of this country obviously form everything I have as values and ideals. But this is not the ghost of my father running for the leadership of the Liberal Party. This is me. |
| 9 | [on vying for leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada] It's about introducing the deeper side of me. A fuller perspective of who I am, than what people have been used to. This is not a whim or a lark or a chance for me to enter another popularity contest. This is about us collectively pulling together to build a better Canada. |
| 10 | I'm willing to work extremely hard. The idea that my father raised sons that expected anything to be handed to them, to not roll up their sleeves and work harder than anyone around them, is not to know my dad. |
| 11 | Can I actually make a difference? Can I get people to believe in politics again? Can I get people to accept more complex answers to complex questions? I know I can. I know that's what I do very well. Why am I doing this? Because I can, not because I want to. Because I must. |
| 12 | I'm someone who stumbles my way through, leads with my chin in some cases, leads with my heart in all cases. It leaves me way open for all sorts of criticisms left, right and centre. You know what? I was raised with pretty thick skin. And I think people are hungry for politicians who aren't afraid to say what they think and mean it. |
