Is it pronounced Leever or lever?

In all except USA English it is pronounced lee-ver but in USA, particularly I have noted in the most urban areas it will be pronounced le-ver or even lev-er. Interestingly ‘leverage’ often has the /e/ sound of ‘eleven’.

Break ‘lever‘ down into sounds: [LEE] + [VUH] – say it out loud and exaggerate the sounds until you can consistently produce them.
