Biography

Matilda Ledger (born 28 October 2005) is a beautiful celebrity and child actress from the United States. Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger are her parents.

Her father, Heath Ledger, was an Oscar-winning actor who passed away at the very young age of 28 from a prescription drug overdose. He is best remembered for his outstanding performance in movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, The Patriot, Brokeback Mountain, and The Dark Knight.

Matilda Ledger‘s mother, Michelle Williams, is an actress who has received four Oscar nominations and whose credits include the films Manchester by the Sea, Blue Valentine, Shutter Island, My Week with Marilyn, and Oz the Great and Powerful.

She first appeared on television in 2006 on episode 20 of Cutest Celebrity Babies of the program VH1: All Access. The 2017 documentary I am Heath Ledger, which is based on the life of the late actor, features a central subject of Matilda Ledger‘s father’s love for her.

Early Life

On October 28, 2005, Matilda Rose Ledger was born in New York City, New York, United States, to the actors Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger. She was born three months before Brokeback Mountain came out, the movie where her parents met and fell in love.

They allegedly initially met in 2003 while working on the set of Ned Kelly. Matilda Ledger is Kim Ledger, Sally Ledger Bell, Larry R. Williams, and Carla Ingrid Williams‘ granddaughter. Kate Ledger, Olivia Ledger, and Ashleigh Bell are the names of her aunts.

Her great-grandparents are John Ramshaw, Jackie Ramshaw, Colin Ledger, Richard Sigwart Williams, Sylva Berthea, and Es Ledger.

Career

Matilda Ledger has developed as a celebrity child in front of the prying eyes of the paparazzi. The fact that her father passed away unexpectedly when she was just two years old did not assist her mother in preventing her from engaging with the media. Due to the issue surrounding her place in her father’s will, she was particularly drawn into all the rumors and suspicions surrounding his passing.

However, shortly after Heath Ledger‘s passing, her mother pleaded with the press to give them space to mourn privately and tried her best to avoid being in the spotlight. Interestingly, she has frequently appeared in tabloids over the past few years because of how much she resembles her late father.

Michelle Williams recalled how Matilda Ledger was the replica of her father in her statement made after Heath Ledger‘s passing. Heath Ledger‘s sister Kate Ledger said in the documentary about his life that everything she does, the way she rides a skateboard… reminds her of Heath Ledger.

Even ten years after her father passed away, the media never misses an occasion to rave about how much Heath Ledger looks like the 17-year-old Matilda Ledger.

Personal Life

On January 22, 2008, Matilda Ledger‘s father overdosed on prescription medication for several diseases, and he died as a result. He and Michelle Williams had peacefully split up and were not romantically linked at the time of his death. The name Matilda translates to The Militant Rose.

Her godparents are Busy Philipps, whom Michelle Williams met in 2001 while working on the set of Dawson’s Creek, and Jake Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams‘ co-star in the movie Brokeback Mountain.

Matilda Ledger is not married and has no boyfriend for now.

Father’s Lullaby

The father of Matilda Ledger, in addition to being an exceptional actor, was also passionate about photography, chess, and music. He co-founded the Masses Music record label with American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ben Harper.

Her father had given a grand piano to his lifelong friend and partner Ben Harper a month before she was born and requested him to write a lullaby that he would sing to her when she was born. The song Happy Ever After In Your Eyes, narrated from a devoted father’s viewpoint, effectively conveys his love for his young daughter.

Ben Harper shared the information in the 2017 documentary I Am Heath Ledger.

She will reportedly be permitted to view the documentary when her mother, Michelle Williams, gives her blessing to executive producer Matt Amato‘s work. When Matilda Ledger was 11 years old, according to Matt Amato, she became quite interested in her deceased father.

Net Worth

Matilda Ledger‘s parents have primarily been responsible for her accumulated wealth; as of early 2019, sources tell us she has a net worth close to $1 million.

This wealth was accrued through success in her various endeavors, but her father had an estimated net worth of over $16 million, and her mother also has a similar net worth.
