Burt Young, a former professional boxer-turned-actor who won an Oscar nod for his work in the blockbuster 1976 film Rocky with Sylvester Stallone, passed away early this month in Los Angeles, according to his daughter, who spoke to The New York Times.

Paulie is back where he started in the 2006 film “Rocky Balboa,” working at the meat-packing plant, but after being laid off, he no longer has any reservations about Rocky’s decision to fight again and acts as his cornerman. Young didn’t show up in the 2015 film “Creed,” as Paulie is alleged to have passed away in 2012.

In the terrible Sam Peckinpah film “Convoy,” starring Kris Kristofferson, Young portrayed one of the truckers. In the 1986 comedy “Back to School,” he played the character of Rodney Dangerfield’s chauffeur and bodyguard.
