Federico Dimarco Childhood Story:

For starters in his Biography reading, he bears the nickname; “Whisky”. This is an ironic nickname considering that Federico is an is absolute teetotaler (someone who never drinks Alcohol).

Federico Dimarco was born on the 10th day of November 1997 to his Mother and Father, Gianni Dimarco, in the city of Milan, Italy.

Dimarco arrived into the world as one among two children (himself and Christian, his younger brother), all born to the union between his parents. Now, let’s introduce you to Mr and Mrs Gianni Dimarco.

Growing Up Years:

Federico Dimarco spent his childhood years in the Milanese district of Calvairate where his parents operated a fruit and vegetable shop in the Porta Romana area. The Italian left-back grew up alongside his younger brother, Christian Dimarco, who is a professional footballer.

Young Federico and his brother grew up as children of Greengrocers. They both lived and help their parents sell fruits/vegetables at 103 Porta Romana (a district of Milan) before screeching in their Nerazzurri shirt.

Dimarco brothers, having grown up with a passion for sports, became increasingly in love with the Nerazzurri colours. Christian, who is the younger brother, and  Federico, the eldest, are both five years apart in their age.

Federico Dimarco Early Life:

The Inter Milan left-footed winger was born with the Ball at his feet. Young Federico Dimarco wore the Inter shirt for the first time at the age of 7. He has his first kick of the ball in the Milanese district of Calvairate (in the Porta Romana area), where his parents run their fruit and vegetable shop.

Since childhood, two things have been constant in Federico Dimarco’s life. They are the passion for playing the beautiful game and supporting the team of his heart (Inter Milan). From the moment he kicked his first football and wore his first Inter Milan shirt, Federico had always had the dream of becoming a professional footballer.

Dimarco’s earliest memory of watching a football match at the San Siro is best told by his Uncle, Giuseppe. In his words;

I began taking Federico to the stadium when he was three.

When we are there, he once fell asleep while the other family members watched the game.

Years later, he started going alone.

Federico Dimarco Family Background:

The first thing to know about the Athlete’s household is the fact that their passion for Football originated from his uncle. In fact, it was Giuseppe Dimarco who passed on to Federico his passion for loving football and Inter Milan colours since he was a little boy.

At the Dimarco house, located in Porta Romana (a district of Milan), everybody is a Nerazzurri fan. Although his uncle, Giuseppe, helped lay the foundation of his career, his Dad, Gianni, did support him in his choices. It is pertinent to state that Mr Gianni, who lived proudly by selling fruits and vegetables, never had a history of playing football professionally.

In the course of reading Federico Dimarco’s Biography, you should know by now that his parents’ occupation is business. The footballer grew up in Corso di Porta Romana (Milan) in a building that contains his father’s and uncle’s fruit/vegetable shop.

Up to this day, Federico Dimarco’s Parents and his uncle still engage in the sale of fresh, top-quality fruits and vegetables. Do you know?… This historic shop, run by the family, has been serving local residents (including VIPs) since 1968.

Regarding the occupation of Federico Dimarco’s Parents, the best term to describe it is “Greengrocer”. Gianni and his wife are both Greengrocers person who owns a Milan store that sells fresh vegetables and fruit.

Dimarco’s Dad and Mum have spent many years working in his family’s fruit and vegetable shop. For these set of persons who thrive in both Greengrocery and football, being united as a family means everything.

In an interview with Grandhotelcalciomercato.com, Gianni (the head of the family) once made a shocking statement. He joked that working in the fruit and vegetable shop was more difficult than playing football. According to him;

“Being a footballer is a profession, but above all a privilege.

However, working here in the fruit and vegetable shop is more difficult and my sons (Federico and Christian) know it.

They have both experienced what it means.”

Federico Dimarco Family Origin:

The Inter Milan Left-Back holds only Italian nationality, not because he was born in Milano.  Federico Dimarco’s Parents are both Italian citizens who, for many years, lived in a middle-class housing in Riccione. This is a town situated in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna.

This section of our Bio tells you more about Federico Dimarco’s family, in terms of their origins. The truth is, there are not originally from Milan. Looking down into his ancestry, our findings reveal that Federico Dimarco’s Parents have their origins in the municipality of Irsina.

Irsina, until 1895 called Montepeloso, is an Italian town in the province of Matera. Federico Dimarco’s family roots is located situated in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata. Italian village, deep in the southern Basilicata region, is being repopulated by Americans.

Like his fellow teammate, Nicolò Barella, Dimarco identifies with the language group known as the Italian people. The Italian people share a common history, culture, language and ancestry.

The Italian footballer and his younger brother Christian attended the schools in the Corso di Porta Romana neighbourhood. Speaking with GrandHotelCalciomercato, Gianni, the father of the footballer, once gave a memory about his sons’ schooling years. In his words;

“I remember during their time in kindergarten and elementary school, Federico and his brother Christian loved to leave home early, at seven in the morning.

They did that so they would be able to shoot a ball before their classes. It is their life, their destiny. The football pitch is their gym. The Football pitch has always bound them, and it strengthened the bond between them.”

Federico Dimarco Biography – Football Story:

The beautiful game began at the age of six on the local pitch in Riccione before Inter Milan called him at the age of seven. Initially, Federico Dimarco started playing 7-a-side football as a top-left winger. When his team switched to playing 11-a-side, he dropped to a Winger.

In his early career years, Dimarco was always the one to make a difference. He made the difference in terms of his shots, his run, his pranks, and his extremely large shirt (as seen below). Not forgetting his runny nose and act of scoring goals with his free kicks.

Back in the day, the problem with Dimarco was not teaching him to shoot or score goals but reminding him to wipe his nose. According to his coaches.

He Never stopped, not even to wipe the nasal mucus that always dripped from his nostrils.

Dimarco saw doing the above as a waste of time. All that he wanted on the pitch was to play, play and play rather than wiping the snot that dripped from his nostrils. It was such intense determination that made him stand out for his good individual technique.

Federico Dimarco Bio – Road to Fame Story:

As per TransferMkt report, the 1st of July 2014 was when the young Progedy (aged 16) progressed from Inter Youth to the club’s U19 team. Two years before achieving this feat, Dimarco had been called to Italy’s U15.

Before becoming a professional, young Dimarco enjoyed some level of success, especially at the national level. In 2013, the footballer was a member of the Italy under-17 side which finished second (runners-up) at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Slovakia.

As noticed here, Federico’s name made the front page of Italy’s national newspaper for his heroic contribution to the tournament.

The success achieved with Italy’s U15 skyrocketed him to the country’s under-19 national team. While there, Dimarco’s four goals helped his team reach another final – the  2016 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. Do you know?… It was this tournament that saw the early rise of Kylian Mbappé, who helped France to win it.

From the club scene, both the Dimarco brothers celebrated their youth career with Inter Milan by winning at least a trophy. On the 27th of January 2016, Federico, having achieved success at the Inter Milan youth level, got called to the first team. Christian, his brother, continued with the club until July of 2021.

Federico Dimarco Biography – Path to Fame:

From the moment he graduated from Inter Milan’s academy, the part to progressing (initially) at the senior career level became increasingly difficult. Federico’s quest to becoming a star with the I Nerazzurri was earlier truncated with injuries.

A Finnish orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Sakari Orava, came to Federico Dimarco’s rescue thanks to a successful surgery. The Doctor, based in Milan, was the man behind the treatment of David Beckham’s Achilles tendon during his stay with AC Milan. After Dimarco’s successful operation (dated 15th of October, 2018), he was ready to kick the ball again.

Federico didn’t have the opportunity to feature in a Mauro Icardi-Led Inter Milan team during the 2018/2019 team. The coach at that time, Luciano Spalletti, approved him to undergo a maturation path (through a loan with Verona) before joining Inter’s senior side.

Following Antonio Conte‘s arrival in the 2019/2020 season, Dimarco wasn’t called back. So he decided to continue his apprenticeship by taking further loan moves to teams like Ascoli, Empoli and Sion. With no hopes of being called back by Antonio Conte, he made a decision on his career.

On 30 June 2017, Dimarco agreed on a personal team with Sion for his permanent transfer. Unfortunately, Inter Milan regretted that decision following his instant rise with the Swiss club. On 5 July 2018, the Italian club, under the management of Simone Inzaghi, exercised a buy-back clause to bring back Federico Dimarco for €7 million.

Upon his return, it was revealed in the papers that Simone Inzaghi was serious about having him in his Inter squad. Despite Dimarco’s exponential growth and the experience accumulated, he wasn’t (yet again) given a first-team selection slot with Inter Milan.

The Meteoric Rise:

Like a merry-go-round, the Italian Left Back moved back on loan. Dimarco first moved to Parma before joining Verona, where he had an explosion in his career. In the 2021/2022 season, he was called back to Inter Milan with the sole purpose of providing competition to Robin Gosens for the Left Wing Back position.

Dimarco, in no time, eclipsed German Robin Gosens for the Left Wing starting role thanks to his ability to interpret the game better. In spite of his slender physique and small stature, he possesses significant strength. And his good technical skills aided his team both defensively and offensively.

In the 2021-2022 season, Federico Dimarco helped Inter Milan win the  Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana trophies. Such achievement earned Dimarco a contract extension to June 2026. Slowly, with hard work, the versatile Left-Back has indeed become a Legend with the La Beneamata.

As I write this Bio, the boy who was raised in a fruit and vegetable shop has achieved a great career milestone in 2023. He, alongside Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriner, are among the Defenders who have helped Inter reach their first UEFA Champions League final since the reign of Jose Mourinho. The rest, as we say, is now history.
