A Celtic punk band from Quincy, Massachusetts, Dropkick Murphys was founded in 1996 and is still active today. After signing with indie punk record company Hellcat Records, the band released five albums for the label while building a reputation for themselves in the Boston area via continuous touring and annual St. Patrick’s Day week performances in and around the city.  The band’s first smash song, “Tessie,” was released in 2004 and went on to become one of the greatest charting hits of all time. I’m Shipping Up to Boston” was included in the 2006 Academy Award-winning film The Departed, and it went on to become the band’s sole Platinum-selling single to date, as well as one of their most well-known songs. When the band signed with Warner Bros. Records in 2007, they started releasing songs on their own vanity label, Born & Bred. The Meanest of Times, released in 2007, debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard charts and featured the hit single “The State of Massachusetts.” Going Out in Style, released in 2011, was an even bigger success, debuting at No. 6 on the Billboard charts and becoming the band’s highest-charting album to date. A year after the release of the band’s eighth studio album, Signed and Sealed in Blood, the album debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 list in 2013.
