Did SWV And Xscape Tour Together?

No, SWV and Xscape have not come together for a joint tour. As of March 2023, it’s unsure if the tour will ever happen.

However, SWV did join Xscape in Kansas City on their Great Xscape Tour to Kansas City, Oklahoma City, and Grand Prairie as a special guest.

Bell Biv Devoe and Keyshia Cole also joined Xscape as special guests in selected cities.

The two groups first appeared together on the soundtrack of the 1995 film Panther, Freedom. The 1995 song featured a chorus of over 60 African-American female artists and groups.

On May 8, 2021, SWV and Xscape participated in a pre-Mother’s day battle presented by Verzuz. The live stream began with DJ Alone and DJ Spinderella, both going head to head.

Springing off of the success of their Verzuz Mother’s day battle, the female groups earned their spot in Bravo’s newest series. Filming of Queens of the R&B began in the Summer 0f 2022.

During that time, both female groups booked separate projects and performances but have yet to announce a tour together.

In 2023, the groups have continued to stay booked, and none of the listed dates for Xscape and SWV show any tour stops with the artists in the same place and date.

Despite their discussion about the tour together in the show, they haven’t shared if they have plans for a joint tour after the series wraps. They also needed help to settle on many facets of the tour.

On the show, fans witnessed tension rising between the music bands in Season 1 Episode 3.

While discussing the tour together, Xscape and SWV argued about whether they should have a headliner or they should co-headline the concerts. Both groups presented separate thoughts.

SWV suggested they should co-headline the tour and rotate their popular songs throughout the night. The other band said they would like it if they opened it for them and name them as the headliner.

Fans could clearly see SWV was not happy with the suggestion. They debated they came out before Xscape and have sold more records compared to their younger counterparts.

Is A SWV And Xscape Concert Happening In 2023?

The Bravo series unfolds the behind-the-scenes drama of the SWV and Xscape leading up to their one-night grand concert.

In this series, fans will get a VIP seat and backstage access to 90s R&B bands as SWV and Xscape prepare to hit the stage together. Well, it’s not easy for two groups to come together without any drama.

The Queens of R&B Episode 3, which aired on March 19, 2023, saw the music vets having trouble discussing a headliner for the show.

We see egos coming to a head in another joint meeting. SWV said they should co-headline the tour while Xscape told they would prefer if SWV opened for them and list them as the tour’s headliner.

In Episode 4, the groups finally decide who will headline their joint show as planning for the alliance of a lifetime begins.

The upcoming episode, airing on April 2, 2023, will see the groups pushing forward with final preparations for their big show despite earlier tensions.

Yet, neither group appears willing to back down on who will close it out, with the show approaching fast.

Besides the joint show, both bands are booked and busy with their separate concerts in 2023 as they continue to tour and rock different cities with their hit R&B singles.

Xscape’s upcoming events will be held in Washington, Dc, on April 1, Chicago on April 14, Detroit on April 15, Ontario on May 14, Miami on June 15, Orlando on June 16, and Jacksonville on June 17.

Who Sold More Records -SWV Or Xscape?

SWV has sold more records compared to Xscape by numbers. This is also because they started their musical journey earlier.

Over the last three decades, both SWV and Xscape have cemented themselves as definitive bands in the world of R&B.

The two music groups bloomed in the same realm and attained similar accolades, such as high chart placement, platinum records, and more. So, in terms of numbers, who sold more records?

SWV, formed with Cheryl (Coko) Ganble, Leanne (Lelee) Lyons, and Tamara (Taj) Johnson, has sold over 11.5 million albums during their time as a group, according to the RIAA.

The music trio claims to have sold over 30 million records, though no proof of this figure has been provided.

They had a series of hits, such as Right Here (Human Nature Remix), Weak, I’m So into You, and You’re the One. They are also among the best-selling girl groups of all time.

SWV disbanded in 1998 when the band members decided to pursue solo careers. They reunited in 2005.

Xscape, formed with Kandi Burruss, LaTocha Scott, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, and Tamika Scott, has sold more than 9 million records worldwide throughout their time.

Jermaine Dupri first signed the quartet to his So So Def label. In 1993, they released their debut album Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha, which spawned two of their biggest hits, Understanding and Just Kickin’ It.

Their debut album was certified Platinum on February 1, 1994. The quartet released their second album, Off the Hook, in 1995, which received a Platinum certificate on November 16, 1995.

The singles Feels So Good and Who Can I Run To from the second album were both certified Gold in the United States. Traces of My Lipstick, released in 1998, marks the group’s third and final album.

Moreover, SWV was founded in 1988 and Xscape came together in 1991, with the former having a nearly three-year head start over the latter.
