Dean Westlake passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, under suspicious circumstances, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska. He was 62.

Dean Westlake was born on January 8, 1960 in Noorvik, Alaska, United States.

Dean Westlake was an American politician from Alaska.

Dean Westlake was elected to the State House in 2016 after defeating incumbent Ben Nageak.

He resigned in December of 2017 in the wake of the revelation that he fathered a child with a minor when he was a police officer in Kotzebue.

Following Dean’s death, his son, Tallon Westlake, was arrested and then charged with manslaughter and tampering with evidence in reference to the death.

According to the charging document, Anchorage Police Department dispatch received a call at 6:52 am on Saturday from Tallon Westlake, who said an ambulance was needed in a hurry. Tallon also said he did not know what was going on with his dad but his dad was not awake. When dispatch asked him to go next to his dad to check on him, Tallon responded that he did not want to be next to a dead body.

Police found blood on Dean Westlake‘s hands and feet, and his face was bruised and bloodied. They also saw blood streaks on hallway walls and “blood spatter.” A neighbor said she got home around 2 a.m. or 2:30 a.m. Saturday and heard a loud argument from Tallon Westlake‘s apartment, though said she thought it was a man and woman arguing, the documents reveal.

Police described a “heavy bleach smell” in the apartment and wet floors that appeared to have been recently mopped, the documents say.

Dean Westlake’s funeral arrangement is yet to be announced by the family.
