Christie Sides was elevated to associate head coach on May 18, 2017, after serving as an assistant coach for Dream Atlanta for one season.

Last season, Atlanta struggled in nearly every statistical category but was especially bad on defense surrendering more points per 100 possessions than any other team outside of Indiana.

Sides, who had previously worked as an assistant in Indiana and Chicago and had just returned from a rebuilding Louisiana-Monroe school, met with Wright in October and was hired in December.
