Caelynn Miller-Keyes Sorority – Sexual Assault

Caelynn Miller-Keyes Story

During her sophomore year, Miller-Keyes states she was sexually assaulted by one of her own buddies at his fraternity apartment.“My whole world was turned upside down,” the 2018 Miss NC USA recalled during a press gathering at the High Point Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.

She explained that, just like various of the celebrities in the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, she was frightened to admit what had happened to her and tell her loved ones from the concern of being judged.

When she called two of her friends that stayed at the same fraternity house that evening to tell them what had transpired, they said they considered they had also been assaulted and had no memory of the events.

Then when it hit them that they had all been drugged and sexually assaulted.

“My heart stopped at that moment because at that point I still, again, didn’t know the extent as to what had happened to me,” she described.

Miller says in the beginning, she only wanted to be examined from drugs to approve her suspicions, but none of the doctors and hospitals she went to would test her for drugs.

“Each doctor turned me away, they said, “Unless I filed a police report they couldn’t help me,” Miller-Keyes said.

Later she brought the case to the school administration but did not prevail in the case she brought up at VCU after the attack. Miller-Keyes has been settled to use her Miss North Carolina platform as a consequence of her encounters, to improve Title IX policies on college campuses for sexual assault survivors.
