Bunny DeBarge Net Worth $300,000

Bunny is the oldest child of ten born to Etterlene Abney and Robert DeBarge Sr. She grew up in Detroit, but the family moved to Grand Rapids when she was 16 years old. From an early age, she had problems with her family, precisely her dad who had molested and sexually abused her from when she was seven until she turned 13. Also, she and her siblings had problems in school, as they were bullied due to their multi-racial ethnicity.

She turned to music from an early age in order to get away from her real life problems; Bunny would often sing in her uncle’s church, and as she and her siblings were growing up, they formed several musical groups. She also quit school and got married.

Nevertheless, she didn’t put her musical aspirations aside, and continued to improve alongside her brothers. Seeing how her brother Bobby DeBarge was becoming successful, she and her brothers Randy, Mark, and El started the DeBarges family group. Soon they became connected to Motown records, and in 1981 they released the debut album “The Debarges”. However, the album wasn’t well received, but they continued with their musical career. The following year out came their second studio album, “All This Love”, which reached No. 24 on the Billboard 200 chart, and No. 3 on the US R&B chart, and achieved gold status, and the group continued successfully with albums “In a Special Way” (1983), and “Rhythm of the Night” (1985), both achieved gold status, which only further increased Bunny’s net worth. She left the group after Motown offered a lucrative solo deal, but her debut solo album “In Love” (1987), was her only one as it failed commercially, so Bunny was released from Motown. Since then, she has battled drug abuse and retired from music. However, according to recent interviews, Bunny has been working on a new album and is constantly touring.

She has published her autobiography “The Kept Ones” in 2008, the sales of which added to her wealth.

Regarding her personal life, Bunny has been married to Steve with whom she has three children. She has one marriage behind her and a child from that marriage; however, details remain unknown in the media.

Over the course of her life, Bunny has had several problems with drug abuse, and has spent some time in clinics, but has managed to recover and stay clean in the recent years.
