Billy Crudup Parents: Meet Thomas Henry Crudup III and Georganne Gaither

Manhasset, New York, is where Crudup was born. During his early years, his parents, Georgann (previously Gaither) and Thomas Henry Crudup III, divorced; however, they later got back together before separating once more. Crudup has talked frankly about his late father, who passed away in 2005; he described him as a persistent gambler and shrewd salesperson who constantly chased the American ideal of financial success.

Crudup is a direct descendant of North Carolina congressman Josiah Crudup on his father’s side. His maternal grandmother subsequently wed Episcopal bishop James Duncan, and his maternal grandpa was William Cotter “Billy” Gaither, Jr., a well-known trial lawyer in Florida.
