Benjamin Lev Kweller, an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, was born on June 16, 1981.

Kweller, a former member of Radish, has six solo albums to his credit and has participated in a number of group projects.

1981 saw the birth of Ben Kweller in San Francisco. His family moved to Emory, Texas in 1982, where his father, Howard Kweller, established himself as the community’s first physician. The Kwellers relocated to Greenville, a bigger town in Texas, in 1986. Guitarist Nils Lofgren, who grew up in Maryland with Kweller’s father, received a copy of Dizzy from Kweller. Radish impressed Lofgren, who gave them a recommendation to Roger Greenawalt, who was composing Damaged Goods at the time. Greenawalt brought Radish into a recording studio to create a demo tape, which was then distributed to record labels all over the country.
