He grew up in his hometown with a brother, and sister who now works as Pentatonix’s tour manager. Raised as Jewish, Avi had problems in school since other boys bullied him. However, he found solace in music, particularly the folk genre, and would listen to John Denver, Bill Withers, while of modern days band he likes Bon Iver, and Iron & Wine, among others.

He joined Pentatonix in 2011, but even before that, he had some success in music as he sang jazz music and operas as well. He received several awards including the ICCA Award for Best Rhythm Section.

The original Pentatonix members – Kristin Maldonado, Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi – were seeking a bass singer and beatboxer, and Avi was soon accepted into the group after an audition. The group’s debut release came the following year, the EP “PTX, Volume 1”, which reached No. 14 on the US Billboard 200 chart, while it was sold 200,934 copies, which increased Avi’s net worth. The same year, the group released a Christmas EP, entitled “PTXmas”, which peaked at No. 7 on the US Billboard 200 chart and sold 500,000 copies, adding further to Avi’s net worth. Thanks to their early success, Pentatonix was signed to RCA Records, and in 2014 released their debut album “PTX, Vols. 1 & 2”, but the album didn’t achieve commercial success. However, the group continued making music, and made a breakthrough with the Christmas album “That’s Christmas to Me”, also released in 2014, and which reached No. 2 on the US Billboard chart, while it achieved double platinum status in the US and platinum in Canada, increasing Avi’s net worth to a large degree. They continued in the same rhythm, and in 2015 released their self-named album which also achieved gold status in the US and reached No. 1. The next year another No. 1 release followed, “A Pentatonix Christmas”, which further increased Avi’s net worth.

As a part of Pentatonix, Avi is the recipient of three Grammy awards in categories for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or a cappella two times, and Best Country duo/group performance for their duet with Dolly Parton on the song “Jolene”. Year by year Pentatonix was becoming more popular, and went on extensive tours, which actually had a bad effect on Avi, as he expressed his discontent with being on the road all the time. As a result, he decided to leave Pentatonix, and dedicate more time to his friends and family.

Though he left Pentatonix, Avi didn’t leave music behind as he started his own project, a folk band called Avriel & the Sequoias, with which he has already released an EP entitled “Sage and Stone”.

When it comes to his personal life, Avi tends to keep his most intimate details hidden from the public eyes, therefore, no reliable information is available about this talented musician, but he is still single..
