More About Bretman Rock’s Family

As stated above, Bretman Rock and his family are from the Philippines and, more specifically, Ilocano.

The Ilocanos, Ilokanos, or Iloko people are the third-largest ethnolinguistic group in the Philippines and are primarily found in the Ilocos Region on Luzon’s northwest coast. The Ilocano (or Ilokano) language is the native tongue of the Ilocano people.

Due to their geographic location, extreme weather patterns, and historically high average savings rates in the Ilocos Region, the Ilocano people have gained a near-stereotypical reputation among Filipinos as resourceful, frugal, and hardworking.

Ilocanos have a complex web of social customs and religious traditions.

The Ilocano diaspora has spread to almost every region of the Philippines and Western countries, especially Hawaii and California. Pressures from a highly populated area with little room for agriculture led to emigration.

One of the areas of the country with the highest population density is the Ilocos Region.

Since the agricultural output cannot meet local requirements, much of the population has historically engaged in interregional trade and the labor market. The Ilocano people’s main cash crop is tobacco.

The region has a long history of textile production. The only activity that comes close is agricultural output. Ilocanos, one of the more prevalent ethnic groups, have played a significant role in Philippine society’s political, educational, economic, religious, and other spheres.

Like most of the other major groups, the Ilocano people are fiercely regionalistic and typically take pride in their history and language.
