Alex Debogorski Net Worth $700,000
Alex was one of five children of Irene and Stanley Debogorski, and is of American and Polish descent. He grew up on a farm, and later enrolled at the University of Alberta. Prior to discovering truck driving as his life calling, Alex worked on several jobs, including positions such as a club bouncer, taxi driver, coal miner, oil rigger as well as a tire store proprietor. For some time, he was a diamond prospector as well as a mobile homes’flipper’. All these jobs provided the basis of Alex Debogorski’s net worth as well as an opportunity to buy his first truck in 1980.
Although he began his truck driving career in the early 1980s, Alex only came to prominence in 2006 when he was approached by History Channel’s film crew with an offer to join the cast of the new and upcoming reality TV show – “Ice Road Truckers”. The show, which began airing in June 2007, follows the lives, daily activities and routines of truck drivers operating on seasonal routes in Canada’s remote Arctic territories, abundant with frozen roads, lakes and rivers. Alex featured as one of the show’s main figures throughout its ten seasons before the show was discontinued in December 2016. Not only that, this engagement has helped him to reach “legendary driver” status, it has also provided the majority of Alex Debogorski’s revenues over the past 10 years, and significantly increased his net worth.
Apart from the show, Alex is not just a common trucker, he is also a public speaker focused on topics such as risk taking and change management, as well as treasure hunting. In 2010, Alex released (so far) his first book – “King of the Road: True Tales from a Legendary Ice Road Trucker”, a biographical mix of Alex’s stories, anecdotes as well as his childhood memories. Alex also regularly contributes articles to local newspaper “The Yellowknifer”. It is certain that these accomplishments have helped Alex Debogorski to further increase the size of his wealth.
Despite not being able to watch him anymore on “Ice Road Truckers”, Alex will likely stay remembered as the show’s most respected driver, of the most charismatic persona with his never-ending stories as well as his infectious laugh.
When it comes to his personal life, Alex has been married since 1972 to Louise with whom he has 11 children. When he is not on the road, he resides with his large family, currently including 14 grandchildren and counting, in Yellowknife, in Canada’s North-West Territories.

| 1 | I have a different understanding of life than you do yet. We're just putting in time until the coffin gets built. As a matter of fact, we should build our own coffins. And If I get the time, I need to build my own coffin, just to prove my point. You make your own coffin and if you have a big house you make it into a coffee table. If you have a small apartment, you make it into a closet and you put it by the door and you hang your suit, coat, the stuff for the wedding or maybe for your funeral. And every day when you walk by it, you give your coffin a pat. And you bring your day into perspective. And you'll have better days because of that. The one thing about the ice roads, you spend a lot of time by yourself. If you don't have the radio cranked up and your ear buds in or a TV turned on sucking one's brains out, then one gets to think about a lot of these things. The shortness of life is amazing to me. |
| 2 | I was born with something you can't buy and is very difficult to earn. It's called poetic license. |
| 3 | [on if he ever gets afraid driving on icy roads] Sure I am. You see trucks jackknifed in the snow and accidents that were probably unpreventable. There are plenty of better drivers out there than me, but I know enough to respect the weather and listen to the ice. |
| 4 | I gotta die somewhere, someplace. I guess today is as good as any other day. |
| 5 | When I was a little kid, I wanted to be a superhero and save people from bad things. Throughout my life, I've had the opportunity to be a real hero and I've had the opportunity to be a real ass, and I've taken that one, too! |
| 6 | Nighttime is when truckers get talkative. It's lonely out here. Guys get on the radio and start telling each other stories. They're like little kids in a bunkhouse after the adults have put out the lights. Everybody is keeping each other company. I'm one of the most devoted storytellers on the ice road, and I'll keep the other truckers entertained for hours. |
