Aaron Grissom Chef Career

Aaron Grissom appeared on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives and the 2014 season of Top Chef. Grissom was more than a business partner to Nanakornphanom, who lives with diabetes: He donated him a spare kidney.

He departed Moshi Moshi last summer as the restaurant entered its slow season and Grissom, who led the kitchen for several years at Dirty Oscar’s Annex on Sixth Avenue, sought other opportunities. The chef was cooking for touring singers, including Billie Eilish, before concerts were canceled due to COVID-19, according to Nanakornphanom. His return to the Tacoma area was unexpected, the restaurant owner said in a phone call.

Dirty Oscar’s Annex, co-owned at the time by Jake and Rachael Barth, appeared on the Food Network show Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. Grissom and bartender Colin Smith opened a second location of the concept in the small town of Roundup, Montana, in 2016. It appears to have closed in 2018, according to updates on Yelp.

In 2014, Grissom was living in Los Angeles, where he led the kitchen at Bow & Truss. That same year, he appeared in Season 12 of Bravo’s acclaimed culinary show, Top Chef, in Boston.
